The Carterets (Tulun) Islands known to the world as the sinking islands is made up of 7 Islands. A beautiful island and home to mantra rays. Full of historical sites. People live a simple and peaceful life style.

 

FEAD ISLANDS

Fead (Nuguria) Islands is known for its diverse conservation in wild life both on land for birds and underwater for turtles and giant clams. Scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking or exploring the general peaceful village settings and interacting with the peace loving people are a few activities one can’t resist to experience.

The Morlock Islands are a tranquil necklace of coral islands lie some kilometers north east of Bougainville Island that even today is rarely visited.. These people are Polynesians – unique among their Melanesian neighbors and their culture has remained intact for centuries despite the precarious nature of life on these secluded atolls.

Nissan Island (Green Islands) is known for its World War 2 history. War wrecks remain scattered all over Nissan Island that remind the indigenous people of the battle of the Green Islands that ended in Sau Island, Pinepel when 15 Japanese soldiers were bombarded from a war ship belonging to the Allied forces. Nissan Island also possesses some of the most fascinating sea breaks along the rocky cliff sides and under water caves. Surfing is also an exciting water spot that one can enjoy on these islands. It is also home to the white bellied eagle, a rare species of bird that could only be found in a few parts of the world .On an expedition, you may have a chance to sight this beautiful and elusive bird! The indigenous people of Nissan Island still hold strongly and practice their cultural values and taboos. This low laying premier destination lays north of Buka Island. Access is by a four hour boat ride.

 

TASMAN ISLANDS

Tasman Islands stretches further out close to the Solomon Islands on boat rides less than an hour during calm seas or fine weather. Tasman Islands is made up of 29 islands. The largest and the main island is stunningly beautiful surrounded by secluded fine white sandy beaches that gives the shallow waters its beautiful greenish and bluish color.  A small portion of this island is also used as the burial place for the indigenous people of the Island. Tasman Islands is currently accessible only by small boats assigned for the atolls from Buka Island once a month. Isolated pristine beaches offer a lot of space to wander, enjoy some quality “alone time” and even go for a swim in the warm sea.
