Pokpok Island

Pokpok Island, or Bakawari Island, is located near Kieta, Bougainville Island. A 20-minute boat ride either from Markaki Market or Tubiana Bay can take you directly to either Uruna Bay Retreat or Neraina Guesthouse. There are numerous activities available to partake in including fishing, snorkelling, surfing, kayaking, trekking, or a trip around the nearby Tausina or Arovo islands. From Pokpok Island you can take boat trips to nearby Tausina Island and Arovo Island.

The trek from the guesthouse to Pokpok village takes approximately 3-5 hours. The trek begins from the guesthouse itself, and after a short walk around the coastline through the Uruna Bay village, the track quickly joins the ridgeline above the village.
